Duplicate a WordPress Post or Page

How to easily clone or duplicate a WordPress Post or Page

There are many times when you may need to clone or duplicate a post or a page. This may be for a variety of reasons such as editing certain content or simply testing out new features. You can always edit a page or simply copy all text and images over to a new page. However, you would lose all other info such as SEO, Yoast info, featured images etc.
For that reason, it is just as easy to duplicate the page or post with the help of a simple plugin.

The plugin you are looking for is named Duplicate Post. Don’t be fooled by the name as you can duplicate both posts and pages.

Once you have installed and activated the plugin it is a simple matter of finding the options in the Post/Page section of the dashboard.

You will be presented with 2 extra options beside the standard Edit|Quick Edit|Trash|View choices.

If you click on “Clone” it will create a draft viewable underneath the page you have chosen to clone. If you click on “New Draft” it will duplicate the post/page and open it in the editor so you can start making the changes immediately.

This is a very useful tool for different reasons. You can duplicate a post or a page quickly without the hassle of trying to copy and paste information across. It is worth remembering that you may need to rename the cloned page or post and also change the permalinks to reflect this.
Once you are finished with the plugin you can safely deactivate and delete it. Deleting it will not affect any cloned pages you have created,
